Rosamund Pike Expresses Fear That the Film "Doom" Could End Her Acting Career

Full details

Actress Rosamund Pike, star of "Gone Girl," revealed her challenging experience while filming the 2005 action movie "Doom," which is based on a video game and tells the story of killing zombies on Mars. She co-starred alongside Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Pike explained in an interview with the podcast "How to Fail with Elizabeth Day" that she felt completely unqualified to be an action movie star, especially after actor Ray Winstone withdrew from the project.

Pike added that she felt out of her comfort zone and that the film was a cinematic disaster, which made her fear it would negatively affect her career that had started to shine after her role as a Bond girl in the 2002 film "Die Another Day." She confirmed that she did not know much about video games and did not want to be a sex symbol in action films, which made her feel like a failure in that field.

Despite this, the failure of "Doom" did not end her career; on the contrary, Pike continued to achieve great success in Hollywood. She pointed out that her experience with the film taught her the importance of thoroughly researching roles before accepting them, and that action roles requiring an athletic body and sexual symbolism were not suitable for her.

She also spoke about the pressures actresses face in action films, where they are expected to be attractive in addition to performing their roles, something she felt she did not achieve in "Doom." She confirmed that the film was one of the worst she had participated in, but considers herself lucky to have overcome that difficult phase in her career.
