Abramorama announced the acquisition of North American theatrical rights for the documentary film Just Sing, which tells the story of the SoCal VoCals, one of the most renowned collegiate a cappella groups in the United States, during a critical season of the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) as they strive to win their sixth title.
The film will premiere on April 24 in New York City and Los Angeles as part of Academy qualifying screenings, followed by a staggered rollout across North America. Additionally, Abramorama, in collaboration with Varsity Vocals and Theorem Media, launched the "Just Sing People’s Premiere" event on April 23, activating 40 on-demand screenings to engage collegiate a cappella groups nationwide.
The film was directed by Angelique Molina and Abraham Tron and received acclaim from audiences at the Tribeca Festival and other North American screenings. The film’s release coincides with the ICCA finals, which will be held in New York on April 25.
The documentary features a diverse soundtrack including artists such as Bob Dylan, Beyoncé, and Rosalía, and narrates a story of personal growth, the pursuit of dreams, and discovering one’s inner voice. It reflects the spirit of collaboration and challenge among team members and is produced by Ventureland, Mercury Studios, and WIIP.
It is worth noting that Abramorama has previously released successful documentaries such as The Last Class, which grossed over $1.3 million at the box office, reinforcing its position in distributing documentaries with humanistic and cultural themes.
